Top Fall Day Hikes Along Highway 395

Exploring Mono County in the fall has been on my bucket list for the longest periods of time. Mono County autumn season is truly one of a kind! It is a place worth checking it out!  Fall color brilliance are truly one of a kind. Fall color brilliance begins the last week of September and shines bright through October. I had the opportunity to check out some of the hikes in the area this past week and here are some of my favorite hikes you’ve got to explore!

1. Lower Rock Creek Trail
Carved deep into the landscape by glaciers, this trail is lined with dense aspen groves for nine miles that are often the first of the season to turn orange and yellow.

2. Lundy Canyon
Lundy Canyon consistently puts on a fantastic fall color display along the scenic, paved road to Lundy Lake, and the trail offer massive color display in late September, early October.

3. Virginia Lake
Virginia lake is one of the hikes you must do in the fall.  At the foot of Dunderberg Peak, this trail climbs through alpine meadows and passes numerous lakes and an old mining cabin, arriving at Summit Pass with  views of Sawtooth Ridge.  Strenuous.  10 miles round-trip.  

4. Convict Lake
Convict Lake is one of my favorite hikes I would do over and over. The hike is beyond colorful and it is one of the most family-friendly sites in the area.  An easy three-mile hike around the lake is perfect for families, and the lake’s well -stocked waters are popular with fishermen.
