Cross-Country Ski Trek to Point Mariah

Royal Gorge Overlook

SUPER fun day today cross-country skiing to Point Mariah at Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort.  I have always wanted to do a cross-country trip at Royal Gorge Ski Resort. Today, I made it happen! Royal Gorge happens to be the largest cross-country ski area in North America. It is also known for its sweeping views of the Northern Sierra.  With more than 140 kilometers of groomed trails, there is plenty of fun for every level at Royal  Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort.  Today, I covered 12 miles round-trip out and back to Point Mirah which sits at 6,868ft.   The trek is amazing!  I felt the “burn” all over it.

Warming Huts:  There are nine warming huts scattered across the 6,000 acres of Royal Gorge’s pristine trail network. Perfect place to stop in to get out of the cold, relax and take in the views! I surely enjoyed the views from the Palisade Peak Hut which is about 5.3km out-and-back from the Summit station.

Services: A full suite of resort services are offered at the Summit Station. Trail Passes, rentals, and lessons may be purchased inside along with a retail shop.  There is also a cafe that serves up fine soups and chilis, organic wraps, deli sandwiches, homemade cookies along with an assortment of local beer and wine.  Fish Tacos are my favorite!

Prices:  Day Pass is $37 dollars without the rental equipment.  More information on additional pricing can be obtained on the Royal Gorge Ski Resort website.
